Statistical Quality Control & Assurance, SPC, QC, QA, Six Sigma Management Software

Variation is everywhere.  Some people even like variety.  But to manufacturing personnel, variation is "evil" since every part (with the same part number) is suppose to be identical and interchangeable.  However, using precise measuring you can show that no two products are identical.  The best we can hope for is to bring the variations down to some acceptable range.

Since exorcisms did not help much for manufacturing and laboratory operations, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Assurance, QC, QA and Six Sigma were developed and the results are so phenomenal you have to wonder why everyone is not using SPC in almost every process?

We are not going to cover the basics of quality control, SPC, and six sigma here.  We think that if you see our list of quality control books, you will find that these books cover these subjects very well and we don't really have any additional information to add to them.  As far as applying what you learn from these books we do have years of experience and share that with you in "Our Thoughts".  Lots of people share tutorial / educational knowledge.  Few know how, or are willing, to share experience.

"In the factory, quality is a costly thing to neglect, yet it is the usual experience to find a disproportionate emphasis being placed upon quantity of output, in the effort to effect economies.  Often this is not so much due to lack of proper intent as it is to the failure to realize what the quality approach means.  To establish and maintain definite and sensible standards of quality requires care and thoroughness.  These are the very things which remove obstacles to production and thus decrease costs -- quite independently of whether the product is high grade or low grade, high priced or low priced.

In the following pages, presenting the results of an intensive study of quality in manufacturing, it has been the intention to show that the control of quality is the correct starting point for economy (as well as to obtain higher standards for their own sake), since if quality is under positive and continuous control, increase of output follows as a by-product advantage.  Hence one of the central thoughts of the book is that increased output and decreased costs are more certainly attained when manufacturing problems are approached with quality, instead of quantity, as the primary guide and objective."
