A lot of people are wondering -- where do you get those quotes?
The president of HTS, Keith, collects old books to see how perspectives have changed over the centuries -- actually a lot LESS than he imagined. His favorite quote is:
|
"Nothing is said that has not been said before" Terence, Roman Dramatist (185 - 159 B.C.) Eunuchus |
|
So if nothing new has been said for 2,000 years, why are so many people talking non stop? There are many great quotes, we could devote a whole website just to quotes. Instead, we try to pick out the best and put at least one quote on each page. A bonus for visiting our pages.
Some of the quotes are just too funny 100 years later. Like the one that says (we are paraphrasing here -- see our Motors webpage) "electric motors will never become popular because the batteries required to run them are too big and expensive." And the quote on our mechanical partners webpage that says "all you need to know to design anything mechanical is two simple things -- the lever and the incline plane". Yeah, right, tell that to a car designer and hope he doesn't smack you with a wrench.
A lot of people are also wondering -- is there some hidden agenda for you including the quotes in your website? No, couldn't be. Would we do something like that? ☺ Just because we try to tell some customers something over and over -- they won't even consider the idea -- and then we find the same advice from consultants to customers 100 years ago?
Keith's second favorite quote, and he does not to whom he should give credit is:
| History repeats itself. Those that do not study history are bound to repeat the same mistakes. | |
Hope you enjoy these quotes as much as we do!
