"You have the best technical reference web site I have
ever seen."
MW
Thanks MW. We admire companies like Black Box Corporation, B&B Electronics, Omega, and others that help users understand and not just push products.
"Nice to see an objective discussion on a commercial
website!"
DG
It seems that when we try to be politically correct -- we aren't understood. So we would rather be understood than politically correct. Also, if a customer is going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on something, we think they deserve a straight forward opinion and fewer surprises. We lose a lot of sales this way (by telling customers what they need to hear instead of what they want to hear) but we have probably the highest percentage of successful projects.
"This is a fantastic site. I was browsing around for some deeper content on IT infrastructure for manufacturing and happened upon here. I wish I had known about this site a few years ago. It’s nice to see that there are companies like yours."
RW
Too many people lose sight of the big picture. Probably at least 20% of projects fail because the objectives did not fit the "big picture". Do your initial "high level" design from the top-down and detailed design from the bottom-up. It is important for us to stay in-tune with how IT wants to accomplish things on the top end to make that integration as seamless as possible.
"I worked for (a competitor) from 1995 to
2000, so I have some exposure to some of the things your company does. I must
say I am very impressed with your Web site and the amount of information it
contains! I only wish I lived in the Raleigh area so I could inquire about your
job opportunities!"
DN
Thanks!
"I previously e-mailed a question about VB and PLC code
and am sending this to thank you all for putting this information out. I say
this because as I wrote before I have been wanting to learn PLC code. Try to get
any real info off the web. All in all none. This seems to be a field were the
info is kept a secret. I have worked with PLC programmers and they are
reluctant to talk. So any way I thank-you for the information you have put
out. Your one site is way more than all the PLC sites I have been to."
JL
Welcome to the PLC world! Misery loves company! (just kidding) Some people hate programming PLCs -- mainly those that do not understand what they are good for and how to properly use them. If you use PLCs like they should be used then PLCs are great for real-time control. If you use them the wrong way -- you will wish you hadn't. (pssst -- www.PLCs.net is also a great PLC site, just don't tell anyone -- we don't want to lose all our web traffic!).
"I will stay tuned to your site to get more knowledgeable with VB and automation, I feel strongly that .NET has some excellent capabilities in terms of really web-enabling a manufacturing process."
MG
.NET is going to make the world even smaller. .NET is very powerful stuff -- allowing you to easily integrate everything from mobile PDAs, to real-time control systems, to huge databases, to non Microsoft platforms, to other facilities -- all with one platform (Visual Studio .NET). Coupled with multiple hyper threading processors -- these are exciting times -- if you're a computer geek like us!
"High Tech Services. This company provides extensive information on Automation Technologies. I found this site while looking for information on PLC s (Programmable Logic Controllers) and was extremely impressed with the amount of information offered here. If you have any interest in industrial automation, I highly recommend this site. Don't miss the Tutorials."
We like to work with other sites that complement and expand our (and your) domain of knowledge. We wish you the best of luck.
"I applaud your company on having the BEST web site for Industrial Engineering. Your tutorial on Industrial Networking & Communications is one of the best I have seen. Now if I could find a basic text book for use in my classroom that does what your web site does would be great. You can bet that I will be using it a lot in the future. It has a wealth of knowledge."
BY
One of the reasons we developed our website was because we could not find this information out there in one place. It helps us remember everything (we have to remember) as much as it helps others. A lot of schools, colleges and universities around the world link to our website and use it for educational purposes. We could have written a book -- but that is so twentieth century.
"Just wanted to drop a note about
your web site. In particular, the Visual Basic programming section. I think
the information you present about how to use VB in industrial automation is
excellent. I continually revisit the site to see if there are additions to it.
It is very hard to find a web site with as much information as you guys pack in
about VB and automation. Keep up the good work!"
RM
Thanks. We try to keep adding to our website when we get the time. We believe in continuous improvement -- small, incremental improvements each week or month -- compound into huge improvements over years.
"WOW! What a Site
I recently went to work for (a competitor) and his
idea of training is push buttons till something works or blows up. I have
learned a lot from reading your site. I have ordered Visual Basic .Net and
Creating Human Interface Using Visual Basic. Great web site hope you continue and continued success."
JS
It's great to have competitors like that! They make us look good! (just kidding) Actually, we hate going into customers that have been burned. They have zero trust in all integrators, they "ride you" the whole time, and you have to jump through hoops like a circus animal. Very stressful projects. Hopefully by sharing ideas, all of us can do a better job and customers will have fewer bad experiences. Glad to see you want to learn.
